Support for Madrasah and Hifz Students – A Contribution to the Luminous Path of the Qur’an
Think of the first Qur’an verse uttered from the lips of a child; that voice is not merely a voice. That voice is the melody of mercy resonating between the heavens and the earth. That voice rising in madrasah rooms with the first light of morning is, in fact, carrying hope to the entire ummah. For the Qur’an is the most exalted heritage of humanity. To learn the light of the Qur’an, to memorize it, to carry it into life; this means not only the renewal of the individual but also the reconstruction of society. Our Prophet (peace be upon him) gave glad tidings to those who memorize and live by the Qur’an as the special servants of Allah, and he referred to the huffaz as “the people of the Qur’an.” Today, many children, within the walls of madrasahs, kneeling on worn-out prayer rugs, eyes on the book, hearts upon the verses, dream of nothing but becoming a hafiz. That child is not merely memorizing the Qur’an; he will live with it, guide society with it, revive the ummah with it. And every support given to that child is, in reality, a divine seal placed upon the future of a lifetime, of a generation. Today the call of Envar Association of Love and Brotherhood is this: Come, let us also shoulder the sound of the Qur’an that never leaves the lips of the huffaz. To reproduce a Mushaf, to bring light to a madrasah, to ease the hifz journey of a student; all of these are not merely help but the most fruitful form of continuous charity. For that hafiz, with every verse he recites, with every khatm he completes, the reward reaches both him and those who were a means to his upbringing. And let us not forget, the greatest lamp to illuminate a world fallen into darkness through ignorance is the Qur’an preserved in the hearts of the huffaz.
Every donation is a contribution to the Qur’an’s voice resonating within the walls of a madrasah. Every support you give eases the path of a hafiz, fixes the light of the Qur’an into the heart of a youth. Ibn Mas‘ud (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that for every letter of the Qur’an, ten rewards are written; then imagine how many rewards are recorded in the register of those who contribute to the path of hifz. Today in madrasahs many students struggle, some within the impossibilities of their fathers, some with the tears of their mothers, but each with a dedication bound to the Qur’an. Their greatest obstacles are often hunger, poverty, rooms without stoves in winter, nights passing without notebooks and pens. And when you place a notebook in their hands, you are not merely giving a stationery item; you are contributing to the Qur’an being inscribed upon hearts. The bread you place on their table, a lunch you provide, clears their minds and eases the hifz journey. Bediuzzaman Said Nursi said: “In this time the greatest service is the service to the Qur’an,” showing us the path. For service to the Qur’an is not only to read it but also to be a means for it to be read. What is asked of you is to join in the honor of being such a means. The support you give to a hifz student will be written into your register with every juz he completes, with every khatm he finishes, until the Day of Judgment. Think that even when one day you leave this world, his recitation of the Qur’an will continue to illuminate your book of deeds. For this reason, every contribution to the madrasah is an eternal investment, an endless gain.
Education does not wait; hifz waits even less. For the preservation of the Qur’an takes place in the hearts of the huffaz. When Allah says, “Indeed, We have sent down the Reminder, and indeed We will be its Guardian,” He points out that this preservation will take place upon the tongues and in the hearts of the huffaz. Today, in small structures made of bamboo in Africa, in adobe rooms in remote villages of Anatolia, thousands of children walk on the path of hifz. Each of them, with your support, will memorize the Qur’an, live with it, and teach it. Do not say, “My contribution is small”; for a small Mushaf changes the life of a student. A small scholarship enables a youth to become a hafiz. A small meal clears the mind, strengthens memory. And every support is, in reality, a contribution to the preservation of the Qur’an. Our Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “The best of you are those who learn the Qur’an and teach it.” Thus, when you provide support, you are directly participating in the teaching of the Qur’an. As Envar Association of Love and Brotherhood, we say: Come, let us illuminate the path of the huffaz. Come, let us together ignite the light of the madrasahs. Come, let us add our breath to the voice of the Qur’an resonating in the heavens. For a hafiz who protects the Qur’an is, in reality, protecting the ummah. And support given to a hafiz becomes a link in a chain of goodness that will last until the Day of Judgment.
